Default So...Im thinking of a XKR 2009 onwards...

Hello Guys and Gals. Ive just joined because Im considering getting a Jaguar XKR as my next daily driver. Im getting the impression that these motors a pretty reliable, which surprises me as Ive always thought Jaguars weren't. Can anyone give me any advice or feedback regarding this Beast of a car? Also, as I'd be traiding in my current car, which is a convertible, are the convertible jags sturdy or should I look at the hard-top?

Thanks in advance

Hello,
XK8 and XKR were built under Ford's ownership of Jaguar. Ford spent Billions on modernizing the factory, and the reliability of Jaguars under Ford's ownership generally show it. Like any other brand, one gets the odd lemon, but reliability isn't nearly as adventurous as when British Leland owned the brand.

Welcome to the Forums.

All my Jags have been super reliable, and it all depends on the way they have been maintained prior to our ownership.

Good luck.

Welcome to the Forums Jasesonix,

With a used Jaguar, it's all about provenance. A careless owner who disregards routine maintenance and repairs can turn a reliable vehicle into a money pit in a very short time.

Default Timing chain tensioners

So I'm still doing my research and it seems there's a problem with the timing chain tensioners on the 5.0 l supercharged v8 which keeps cropping up in forums. I've seen a £2500 bill to get this sorted. What's the experience of you XKR owners?
