Red face Thanks for allowing me to join ur forum :-)

Hi everyone,

I am new to the site, and in need of help, badly. Last weekend, I thought I was a proud owner of a 1993 Jaguar XJ6, beautiful Forest Green colour. Unfortunately, after leaving the car lot, and filling up, I've not been able to drive my beautiful car again. The car lot owner, has given me mutliple reasons, for the no start, no idle issue, and has claimed, that the fuel pump has been replaced, the fuel relay switch has been "bypassed", the fuel tank was "dumped" due to "bad gas", from Racetrac (wrong, as I also used same gas in my rental car), and that he added Lucas oil, when I found out from mechanic, the only additive put into my gas tank, was Seafoam, and both times, out of the lot, he sent me off, with an empty gas tank. Since yesterday morning, after picking up from dealership, again, my car has sat in the driveway, unable to start, with no fuel getting where it needs to go. I am an absolute novice to the Jag, but, have admired them, my whole life, and spent yesterday, reading the Haynes' Service and Repair Manual for the 1993 Jaguar XJ, looking for any easy suggestions to get my car to start, again :-(
Thanks, for allowing me to vent, and I look forward to when I can share happy stories, about my beautiful car ;-)

Heather

As a '93, it must be an XJ40 series. Jaguar keep the same sales ID, (XJ6/8/12, and XK). but each iteration of the car has a different 'factory' name, which we also use to avoid owners posting in the wrong place for their car. Some of us only look in the forums for models we are familiar with, or have owned/repaired in the past.

Two things stop an engine starting - lack of fuel and lack of ignition at the right time. The AJ6 engine in your car is a very fine unit, but has one or two foibles, one of which is the crank position sensor. These are prone to fail, and then the engine cannot be started. There is also a cam position sensor too.

Suggest you post in the XJ40 forum to see what the experts say. I know very little about the XJ40 series.
