totally new to foreign cars no dealer close by
hi!
I purchased a 1992 xjs12 convertible yesterday. It drives great and I have almost finished reading my owners instruction manual. Rear brake lights were not working but replaced fuse and they are fine now. My husband and I were in the process of checking the fluid levels when I had to take my daughter to choir (about 5 minutes from here). We had read that the car should be run in order to check the transmission fluid levels on the service card however in the owners manual it said it was a lifetime sealed transmission didn't need checking? anybody know about this - there is a dipstick as if it can be checked.
After we tried checking the coolant - it was a little too hot so we put cap back on - we had a check engine light and the FF 11 was on the radio panel. Then I turned car off and hit button to see FF code and it showed a 17. Any ideas? I tried the Auto Zone site for codes but they don't have a Jag 1992 online code guide.
Anyway - I think this car is great we just have to get the kinks worked out with a couple of issues and clean it up. Too bad winter weather is coming I might not get to use it much on the colder days but this is North Louisiana and there are always warm days around here.
I would appreciate any thoughts from someone.
