Default Well, hello everyone,

I just registered, so would let you know a bit about myself and my cars. Pride of place goes to my 1968 240 which was a daily, summertime runner until a few years ago when for work reasons I got less time to spend around it, it was garaged, neglected, and all the usual stuff happened; brakes seizing up, fuel lines clogging, electrics corroded. I know, I've been a terrible parent. Anyhow, these problems are all currently being taken care of, along with what I hope are a few minor 'sensible upgrades', more for reliability's sake than for performance.

My XJ8, of course, is by comparison a modern car, and used during the warm half of the year for longer hauls through Scandinavia, preferably never less than 100 kms, more likely 500 kms at a time, as I work far from home. With 220,000 kms on the dial, it holds up beautifully without so much as a hiccup, and 14 years on, remains a most comfortable ride in its original form, clocking up around 15-18,000 kms per season.

For the time being, I presume I will mostly lurch around the threads for snippets of valuable information, as from what I have gathered, most of the problems I might run into have been addressed at some time already.

Anyway, just to give you an idea of the state of my cars by way of a short introduction to the forum...

Cheers, Philip

Welcome Phillip,

Good to hear the 240 is being brought back to life. Too many were scrapped when repair costs far exceeded their value and they are now a rare sight anywhere in Europe.

Your Km's on the XJ8 proves these cars are better for frequent use. Hope it continues for many more years without hiccups.

Graham

Welcome to the forum. I rebuilt a Mark2 2.4 litre in the 80s. They are a very, very, stylish car. If there is one car I would like to have again it it this one, although my modern Rover 75 2.5 litre I had from 2007 to 2010 comes close.

Hi and welcome to the forum Philip.

Like you we have a poor neglected Mk9 in the garage which now needs work doing to it, but it is the time and money we dont have at the moment. We might let a restorer buy it to bring it back to good condition. She deserves it.
