Default Well hello there!

Greetings fellow Jag fans! My name is John (terribly boring so I go by Blaze, but I answer to both). I am a relatively new owner of a Jaguar XJ8 Sovereign 4.0 V8 LWB, in Sherwood green. It was first registered in 1997, even though it is the 1998 model. What can I say, the first registered keeper was Jaguar themselves, so I guess one of the perks of being a Company Director is, you can have the latest model a year early.
I first fell in love with Jaguars when, at the age of about 8, I owned a micro machine toy version of the Jaguar XJS and my passion was perpetuated with both my fathers MkII and a visit to Beaulieu National Motor Museum and seeing the jaw dropping XJ220 in the flesh!

I look forward to spending many a frustrated afternoon in the forums looking for solutions to all my upcoming issues. Thankfully at the moment there is only one minor niggle and there have been no major issues in the cars history, bar some moron driving into the back of it 4 days after I purchased it!

I shall attach a picture of my car (complete with standard issue pregnant wife pulling a face in the background) for your enjoyment and I look forward to being part of this wonderful group!

Blaze

Welcome to the forum Blaze,

A great looking XJ8L. I hope the rear end was a successful repair.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues. On the early V8's the tensioners and cooling system are the known weakspots to check.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Thanks for the advice Graham, I'll do that now.

The repairers have done an amazing job (done by Simon C Green in Horsforth).

Good to hear it.

The bumper brackets usually disintegrate if you just look at them the wrong way but this generally absorbs a lot of rear impact an minimises damage to the bumper itself.

Thanks Kyu, i totally agree! The newer jags dont quite have the same elegence....then again, I feel that way about most cars, not just Jaguars!
I was incredibly lucky finding this one, it was originally owned by Jaguar, which is where it gained all it's mileage, then it was bought by a chap in Skipton who kept it garaged and only drove it occasionally so the paintwork and chrome looks new! The interior is only marred by two small (only noticed them last month) cuts in the leather that have quite clearly been caused by stiletto heels. Apparently an extra foot of leg room in the back wasn't enough for some leggy lady!

I will post more pics when I get chance!
