Default X305 auction winner, woohoo!

I'm jumping in with both feet, as I just won this beauty on the 'Bay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-Jaguar-XJ-/184390239925
I intend to have it shipped directly to a local Jag specialist shop to make sure it's ready for the road. However, since I live in an urban area, I don't drive much and having a fussy older car shouldn't be an inconvenience.
The entirety of my car ownership history can be listed on one hand, IN UNARY:
'85 Volvo 760 Turbo
'88 Porsche 944
'85 F-150 with 3-on-the-tree
'99 Miata for the past 14 years
'95 XJ12, real soon now

Welcome to the forums 944play,

Your post was automatically locked for moderation which is the reason for no replies. The ebay link interpreted as a For Sale advertisement. No problem with the content so I've unlocked it.

It looks a superb example of a rare version.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj12-x305-57/ to the X305 forum for help, advice and information. The X300 forum (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/) will also be useful for things other than the powertrain. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

The clearcoat isn't a big issue to resolve but that looks suspiciously like rust on the right edge of the sunroof panel:

I had a problem like that on an XJ40 and ended up replacing the steel panel.

Ah, the seller cleverly obscured the right edge of the panel, despite including two sunroof pics!

Hopefully the X305 experience is as fun as the 944 and NB1 ones. A support system, while it sounds lame, makes it all worth it.

I should have mentioned in my original reply, the best place for advice on the V12 engine is XJS forum:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xjs-x27-32/

The V12 was more widely used in the XJS and we have some very knowledgeable XJS owning members familiar with the idiosyncrasies of that unit.

You have come to the right place...jaguarforums.com is the Encyclopedia Britannica of the 21st c.

Beautiful car, great colours, and a 6.0 V12. Well done, that's a fantastic car.

The car was just delivered to The Jag Shop on East Burnside.
I am happy to report that the right edge of the sunroof panel is in good nick, as is pretty much the entirety of the body and paint.

Oregon is covered in wildfire smoke at the moment, so everything has a bronze tint.
Though not advertised in the sale, it came with original books and a 5th alloy wheel (with a flat tire, boo). I neglected to photograph the spare.

The not nice, as far as known:
Exhaust leak
Throttle linkage bushings missing
Radiator bushings perished, of course
Little coolant crossover pipe loose and rubbing on top of radiator
Driver side headlight cluster mounting lug broken
Shifter garnish/surround loose
Most if not all veneers have cracks in the lacquer
The V12 cars are supposed to have a toolset in the underhood bin, right?
Scanty new car smell...
One missing plastic fastener in rear seat center armrest cubby lid lining.. the horror

Have yet to peer too far underneath, but the shocks look new. Black bodies with silver stickers, could they be Billies?

Now that you need answers to technical questions, it's time to post in X300 forum. Lots of members read Intro's but once they've read one, they rarely come back to it.
