Yes, there is life North of Brainerd.....
Hello to all, from Northern Minnesota ! (and you Minnesotans will know what the reference to Brainerd means 8-) Became part of Jagworld last Fall, when I brought home a 1995 XJS 2+2, 4.0. That interesting Rose Bronze Metallic paint, cream leather, barley trim pieces. Shows a bit over 70k on the
clock, tires are near new, the Pirelli spare has never seen the road. A door ding or two, but absolutely not a speck of rust....which is a bit amazing here in MN. (it is undercoated, a very nice job...is this common ?) Top and carpet are nice, pretty much everything seems to work. Except the built-in cell phone, which is kind of cool, just sitting there. In this State, if you sell drugs, or drive a bit too impaired, the nice men in uniforms will sometimes take your automobile away from you, and later sell it to some poor, deserving old geezer. At least that is where this one came from. Purchase price (on-line auction) was just too good to pass up. We are in a rural area, and I remember, one snowy day in my youth, we were on our way to a nearby "big town" on a shopping trip. (yes, a lot like Lake Wobegon). I was 14 or so. Sitting outside a junkyard next to the highway was a white XK120. $400, they wanted. Could as well have been the moon, but loved the type ever since. Even in the cold, smelled like a car inside. Then came reams of second-hand Road and Track, Sports Car Graphic, and the like. In college, the old guy at a body shop/eclectic car dealership I used to hang out at, took me for a ride in a red 150. Which was a bit terrifying. He still used lead as a filler, and I do believe the fumes had some effect on his judgement of speed and safety. But, was as entertaining as it was terrifying. Set the hook further. A lot of years and miles have passed since then, but the desire has always been there. Some health problems make it very difficult to operate a clutch and shift lever anymore, at least without that wonderful metal-on-metal, rocks-in-a-can sound, so I had kind of resigned myself to doing without. The notice for this one said "automatic", so........ It is still in the garage, waiting for fluids to be changed, and a few little bits attended to. (need a top cover....suggestions ? ) I had planned to be making some little road trips by May, but life got in the way a bit. There is still time, before the snow comes, I think 8-). I have lurked around this forum since I took it off the trailer, and this looks like a wonderful source of information and conversation and advice. Thank you for allowing me to join. Have made an attempt to attach a couple of photos, hope that was successful..... (the watch is a Schofield....you Brits may be familiar).

Thank you for the kind words...looking forward to getting this thing out on the road! Am quite certain that I will be looking for a bit of help, before/during/afterwards. Just need to mention that attending the Goodwood FOS is on my bucket list.....watched the live feed for several mornings, just a bit ago. Looks like such a good time ! Thanks again.
