1930 Bugatti ~ Mechanical Artistry
If you can appreciate the beauty of mechanical objects, check out this thread.

It covers the detailing of a 1930 Bugatti in preparation for Pebble Beach. Many of the photos show seldom seen aspects of the car. Awesome!
Here are a few "teaser" photos stolen from that thread.

A rather nice work of art that is even better when used as intended. The lucky owner raced it that weekend at Laguna Seca. One thing I noticed is that he didn't have the seat backs installed in any of the pictures. The engine turning is exquisite though.
I always knew the Bugattis were a French marque, but it never occurred to me that the name quite obviously isn't French.
(Gimmie a resounding DUH ...!!)
For my own edification, I googled ol' Ettore. The following quote is from wikipedia:
"Although he was born in Italy, Bugatti set up his eponymous automobile company in Molsheim in the Alsace region, for the numerous models produced over the next three decades. The company was known for the advanced engineering in its premium road cars and its success in early Grand Prix motor racing, a Bugatti winning the first Monaco Grand Prix."
I also noticed his father was a jewelry designer and his grandfather a sculptor. I guess it was in his genes to produce such jewel-like castings and mechanical objets d'art.
