Tesla factory
This is not Jaguar related, but I thought members might find it pretty interesting.
It is inside the Tesla factory, which must be one of the most advanced in the world.
"TESLA is the name of a car manufactured in Fremont, California
in the old Ford assembly plant of the 1950s. It's now a modern,
automated plant, with 160 robots and very few workers.
This is a fascinating look at how the Tesla automobile is built in
Fremont, CA. It's a far cry from the Old Ford Plant in Milpitas, Calif."
There's more info about the Tesla electric cars at: Tesla Motors | Premium Electric Vehicles

Thanks for sharing.
As someone who builds machine automation systems, I always like to see how other people do it. It really doesn't look so different from the modern XK line at the Castle Bromwich plant. Maybe a little more automated, but not a great deal.
The wife really likes the model S, so it might end up being the next grocery getter, assuming the life expectancy of those battery packs turns out to be reasonable.
I do like the 100% torque at zero RPM aspect of electric motors, although I'm not sure that I could handle her car being faster than the Jag. Better get back in the garage and make some more power...

Fascinating and mesmerizing watching the robots and the sheer number of them. And I know they are far more effective than human hands but its also sad to see how few people actually are require to produce this car. It's no wonder we have such a job shortage. And not just in the automotive industry. I know it's the way of the present and future, but does make me wonder how we'll ever get people back to work.
