Default F-type arrival

Went to my local Jaguar dealer today to get some info on the Jaguar Performance Academy ( We just bought an XFR ). I have been talking to them for months about the F-type coming out,as I am very interested in this car also. So the salesman tells me they had a Jaguar rep visit today (6/26), and he said the V-6 F-types could be here in October, with the V-8's in December. I am very skeptical, since all previous info i have seen suggests mid 2013. But it would be nice if it's true!

That is the time frame for the awd XJ first then XF to follow. There has been no mention of a launch of the F-Type

Yes, that is a bit off-putting. I don't understand the current Jaguar styling idiom of sticking a vent or slot on every available piece of sheet metal. Even the latest XKs are showing symptoms of that disease. Whatever happened to curvaceous elegance? Even the Germans are doing it to their luxury car designs. We must be entering some sort of Baroque period in car styling. Sigh....

I like the styling of it. Based on the Jaguar website, it appears the only difference between the actual car and the photoshopped version is that the production model will have headlamp washers. At any rate, we'll know for certain in about a month or so.

Along with painfully clunky lighting designs. The overall shapes can be sharp but they are ruined by clumsy details. At least the F-Type as shown has better-looking lights than the current XK.

No good place for a front license tag in North America though, as per usual with so many sporty designs nowadays.

Car and Driver claims the F-type will offer a manual transmission some time after the introduction next spring.

I have read in many reputable sources that the F-Type is "the spiritual successor to the famous Jaguar E-Type Roadster". As I recall, the same sources also proclaimed the XJS and XK8 as the "E-Type successor" when they first came out.

So much for media hyperbole. I don't care about the E-Type. I am just sad that the production F-Type looks nothing like the uber-sexy concept:

I may get the new SLK350 instead.

I suspect that the V8 version will be the subject of several aftermarket tuners. Supposedly the V8 version will have the 510 hp engine, but it hasn't been officially confirmed.
