Default Mk V project

Hi to everyone who reads this and thankyou for taking the time!

We are from the Gold Coast, Australia and have a few cats hidden away 1977 XJS V12, S1.5 Etype 2+2, 420G (bought comple for parts - 3.8, triple carbs, wider rear diff assembly) and now a project Mk5.

We have looked all over trying to find some inspiration for what to do and unfortunately it doesn't appear alot of people are keen on cutting up a Jag. We wanted the car to look hot but if we weren't improving on it we wouldn't touch it.

I did alot of photoshopping (months) for dad until eventually we settled and he marked the car and proceeded to cut.

SO this is where you all come in as we would like to see what other Jaguar owners think of our efforts so far.

The below images show how the car was and how it is as now.

Thank you

Ok, Here are some of the photoshopped images i did for dad trying all different sorts of things.

1. Bit of a racer spec look to it. Stole the wheels off that phat matt black etype doing the gymkhana style event.

2. Trying something different with the roof, not really that impressive

3. Roduar MK5

4. This I printed for Dad for christmas. It's a photo from the way the car is now, just lowered, shabby painted and whitewalled. Oh and new scenery

5. Another current photo. This one shows what we plan to do to the rear spats

Thanks !!

PS. I hope you don't mind me "Post Whoring" so that i can upload the photos requested from the original thread.

Cheers Jim

Here are photos of the Etype we rejuvinated. We planned that if the 289HiPo ran well it could stay and if it everfailed the 3.8 from the 420G will get a new body to power. This rejuvination was done in around 4 months and the deadline was my sisters wedding

Mum stripped the paint \ interior trimming
Dad did all mechanical \ body work
Brother in law did metal fabrication \ exhaust
I did all electricals \ diagnostics

The Basics are - 1967 2+2 S1, 289HiPo V8 + C4 auto, Wilwood brakes, Subaru Liberty GT leather electric seats.

Dad mixed up a custom colour with a small soft amount of flake.

I am buggered so I'll get the 420g and XJS pics up tomorrow and more MK V

Thanks

A real family effort on the E type.

The Christmas pic is my favourite too.

These are quite nice shots , your MK's rear end is like this car is from 1930's not early 50's

If the V is finished to the standard of the E you will have a pretty decent looking car.

Thanks for sharing.

Great car! I actually love both of your Jaguar's! The Jaguar community is a bit funny as there can be hard core people representing polarized views about modifying a Jaguar. To me everyone has the right to do what they choose to and modified Jaguars should not be regulated to a forum only for modified Jags as most every other brand car community would not act so snotty as some do in the Jag community.

I really think the V is one cool ride and would love to see more finished photos! I also like the E car you have built as it is so clean and a sleeper. I am definately a fan of your cars, as well as any Jag regardless if it is stock or modified as long as it is done well.

well there has been no progress yet on the MKV because dad did the only thing possible to cause work stoppage. He bought another jag. XK120 DHC 1953.
We got it mid last year and have done a ***** load to her. I am doing wiring at the moment which leads me to this gift i have to others.
I spent alot of time to turn these two black and white wiring daigrams into colour. They are now free to the community. Also here is a teaser of XK120.

Hi Jezboosted
Good to see someone else doing a Mk V . I'm also doing a Mk V have been on it for a good 12 months now but havent posted any photos of it but will get around to it one day . Mine was a very rusty body floors, sills running boards and all around the rear wheel arches . I'm still waiting to get my chassis back new front end as i want it to steer and stop , front of chassis to be Zeed . air bags all round 4 link rear with notch at the back for diff, hopefully it will sit on the ground . 6 ltr motor out of 2008 Holden caprice and six speed auto . like another poster said if yours comes out as good as the E type it will be a nice car . good luck and would love to see more progress.

Every now & then i've been dreaming of a hotrodded MK IV or MK V (think classic Deuce Coupe style rod, American Graffiti or ZZ Top's Eliminator), but the 4-door doesn't really work in that style, most rods are 2 door coupes.

Good luck with the projects!

Wow, sounds like quite a unique build there. It will have go, show and low
We can't wait to finish the XK120 to get back to the MK V but we won't rush it either. As you will see in the next post we are tossing idea's still.

We have been looking at changing up our MK V further and at this point are considering options. Attached is what I had mocked up a while ago that got us thinking. It would be a massive feat, but we also love a good challenge.

Many Thanks to all.

Default MK V Mods

Hi there! I have been gone for a while for a variety of personal issues, but I am working on my MKV mods. The body is now removed from the chassis and I will be installing the suspension and engine beginning this week. It will have fully independant suspension, 4 wheel disk brakes and the 4.2 dual overhead came engine, all from a 1987 XJ6 series III. Since Jez boosted has asked I am turning the MKV into a coupe, but interested in keeping it period sensitive, and hope to honor Sir William Lyon by doing something I imagine he would have done. I have several studies on how to go about doing this modification, and will list them here for you. These are as close to scale as I could maintain;

Step one (Lowering);

Step two (Roof Cutting);

Step Three (bonnet extension, cab move);

Step Four (Final Body mod, minus Rear Fender mod);

And finally, projected completed images;

In this image, the wheel skirts are still present, but they will be removed and fenders modified like image above;

Also, I plan on adding "deco" wings to the famous leaping Jag Mascot;

This image is just before removing body, and installing suspension and engine. More pics soon;

Good luck on your project! It looks like you and I have similar ideas!
