Default SS100 Replica Information Sharing

Hi,
I am starting this thread as I need information on my build. I started building an as accurate as possible SS100 replica from the Chassis up. I am marring the chassis with a 67 S Type suspension and 3.8l engine. The front is about an inch wider, witch is not a problem but mounting the rear IRS is going to be a case of measuring 10x before cutting once.

Has anyone done something similar? could you share some thoughts and pictures.

Regards,
Simon

Default Probably not much help, but I’m building a ‘replica’ using a Suffolk chassis

The Suffolk plan was to ditch the IRS cage and mount the components direct to the custom chassis. The half shafts and wishbones have to be shortened by cutting and rewelding, which needs to be done by a competent welder.

I wonder if mounting the IRS cage will work?

The advantage of doing so would be that it is located simply by four (from memory) bolts. If you subsequently need to do major maintenance on the diff, brakes, hubs or suspension, the whole assembly can be dropped down and removed. The challenge is that the wheel track of the SS100 is narrower than the jags that used an IRS, so the half shafts and wishbones have to be shortened. Whether that can be done and the IRS cage modified to suit would need careful examination. Good luck

Looking at the dimensions it is just over an inch wider, in the front ans the rear. I am going to work with the wider wheel base, as I am doing the build from scratch, Thank You for your input Jerry.

Having built a number of these, the IRS is absolutely too wide, and the genuine care are of course solid axle designs...
The front suspension you have can be made to work, with some editing

Look at as many "Suffolk Jaguar " pictures as you can, as that is the most authentic example to follow
