How to get the most out of a Compact Digital Camera
Hi guys, we've obviously got some serious photographers in here, from Pro's to expert amateurs.
Now pretty much all of us have a compact digital camera of some description.
How's about putting a thread together showing how to get the best out of one of these devices, what type of settings to use in various situations.
I know that mine has a dozen different modes I can choose but I never really know if one would be better than another.
And I certainly don't get the best out of it, I might as well use a Kodak throw away.
If someone would like to start a thread with this type of info for us mere mortals, I will happily Sticky it.
(For the info thread, please no, I took this shot of a passing satellite with a X10000 zoom and 5min exposure, that belongs in it's own thread, not what I am asking and will be deleted.).
My camera is a cheap Pentax Optio E60 and I would guess that 90% of the guys have something similar.
Any help much appreciated.

Nothing too detailed, I was thinking more along the lines of hints n tips with the various modes.
I have one that has a picture of a dog, it says for capturing pets, don't have a pet, but perhaps this mode could be useful for something else.
Or what about the one with the knife and fork, I never take a picture of my dinner before I eat it, but again could this be a great setting for some sort of 'special effect'?
Maybe when to use the flash in daylight.
Best use of 'stitching', capturing vast bright landscapes.
This type of thing, to help get the most out of basic kit, and maybe this will then lead on to a deeper interest and participation at a higher level.
