if you don't want to bother with packing and shipping them, you are limiting potential buyers to a few people near you who are obviously not interested.

 

I am fully aware of that. The problem with packing and shipping long distance is you get payed ,you ship,they get where ever they are going and then buyer decides they don't want them and does charge back on paypal or creditcard and I am out my wheels, my time and my money. I would just as soon deal local.

Set of alloy wheels will bring 80+ for scrap prices takes me about 15 minutes to get to the scrap yard.

I am sure someone will read this and be offended by following statement but after dealing with public for 30+ years I come to the conclusion they will tell you anything .

I sell local buyer sees items, money changes hands everyone is happy and we all move on.

 

here's how I have sold wheels:

1) call a local Tire & Wheel store, ask them for 4 or 5 free wheel boxes for wheels up to 16" inch diameter. (they throw them in the dumpster anyway).

2) go to a Dollar General store and buy a roll of clear packing tape.

3) pack the wheels and seal the boxes in advance.

4) tell the buyer to pay by Paypal or Money Order in advance.

5) tell the buyer to call UPS themselves and send a Pickup Order to your location after you constructively receive payment. UPS picks up the packed parts and the buyer pays for the pickup and shipping cost on delivery.

I understand what you say about some buyers abusing the system, but you need to be a step ahead and collect your money in advance. Never ship anything to anyone without money in hand.
