2007 s type wheel studs
I took my car in yesterday to get new tires put on. The shop called me and said they were going to have to drill out a couple of studs. Before they started they tried to source new ones and came up empty. They called the local dealer, who said I would have to replace the whole front hub at a cost of $340.00. I just got off the phone with my tire guy. He found studs , and is going to proceed with replacing the studs. Anyone have any input on this matter?
Hi Norri,
Thanks for the quick reply. I've researched this issue quite extensively on this sight, and no one to my knowledge has claimed that they had to replace the whole hub. Have you heard of such a situation?

I've read several posts related to this subject and I saw no mention of having to replace the whole hub. This is going to sound silly, but I'll say it anyway....I have a hard time believing the dealer would lie about this. Anyway the work is proceeding even as I write this. Thanks again for the timely response Norri. I'll post again when I know the outcome.
Well you got bit once already!! Now get smart and replace ALL the lug nuts. Many threads on this forum. The Lincoln LS also suffers from the same crappy two piece lug nuts.
Count yourself lucky that one or more of your wheels was not damaged or destroyed.

Thats the reason I'm getting tires now. I bought one piece lugs and tried to replace them myself. Ended with my good break down bar bent and the old nuts still in place. So I called in the pros.

I have replaced my rear studs by LS parts and it worked just fine. I don't know if newer model like yours is any different.

The first link that norri has is mine. I just replaced all of my studs. You cannot remove the rear hub but the front you can with 4 bolts on the backside. Take a look at my pics and show it to your mechanic. He should understand it. The part number I used was: 611117 and can be purchased at www.rockauto.com. This was for my 2003 STR.
Thanks Eds123 in advance for the info. I went to rockauto as you suggested and they showed me a lug nut. I need two wheel studs. Thanks at least for caring enough to reply.

A quick search on google came up with this part being the wheel studs.
At $1.64 seems like a pretty cheap part from a dealer...
So, what "local" dealer are you talking to? I ask because you live in Akron as well as me! LOL
I used Jaguar Cleveland when I had my S Type. The website Jaguar Parts is run by them. Here is my proposal. Give them a call, order the studs, and have them marked for pick up. I work in Solon, and am about 10 minutes from the dealer. If you wish, I would be willing to pick them up for you then you just need to run to North Hill to pick them up..
PM me if you want to pursue this. Oh, BTW, what tire shop did you use?
Hi Josworth,
So far your offer is the best bet I have. I've followed up on the other leads, and come up empty. I didn't talk to the dealer personally. The manager of Terry's Tire Town in Hartville did. Great folks to deal with. They matched tire racks price and have been super sensitive to my
situation. I called Coventry West this morning and they do not sell the studs separately either. I asked why Jaguar only sells the hubs. He said they sold them separately at one time, but had problems with the studs pulling through. If you could procure a couple of studs for me I would be very greatful.

Pt #: 610-484
$1.23 each; sold in packs of 10 = $12.30 w/o shipping (Serrated Stud; Thread; M12-1.5; Knurl Dia.: 13.25mm; Length: 51.63mm; Shoulder Length: 15.75mm) You should replace them all which means you need 20 pieces or $24.60. Others will break....maybe not now but they will break. Might as well replace them all now while you have the chance and save yourself some extra headaches. Here's mine finished:

That and my car was from NJ so alot of them were very rusty making them more prone to stress cracks from overtightening and misuse.
