Few problems
Hi All, my name is Marc, I am new to the site and a proud owner of a 2004 Jaguar S type 6 cylinders bought today. 46,000 miles paid $9,000. Looks like new
I have a few questions:
1) is this a correct deal
2) 1 key fob does not work when I press the butons, I changed the battery but nothing happens what do you think is up?
3) there is a nice fancy dial panel but when i switch the ignition on, only the time displays and nothing else. DO I have the bluetooth available or is it just broken
any help is appreciated

Welcome to the site Marc.
9K for a 2004 with 46k miles seems like a good deal. I paid 8k for my 2003 with 66k miles. Of course there is always the disclaimers of the condition of what you do not see.
Sometimes the fobs can just go bad. Try dismantling it again, cleaning the battery contacts and try again. That battery is for certain to be new and fully functional?
If done cheaply, you can get a new fob and key for around $200. Quite possibly less. The fobs themselves go for about $20 on ebay, but they need to be programmed to the car.
What do you mean by "fancy dial panel"? Do you mean the LCD display between the speedometer and tachometer? Or does your car have the touchscreen in the center console?
Bluetooth was an option. Your car might not have it.
To change what is displayed on the LCD between the speedometer and tachometer, press the button on the end of the left hand steering wheel stalk.
If you have two LCD panels in the center console, press the round button on the lower left to turn on the radio/cd. Press the round button on the top left to turn on the climate control.
If you do not have a handbook, you can download one from the stickies on this particular forum.

Hi Heima,
Thank you very much for your welcoming message, you seem a wealth of science when it comes to this car and I am such a novice.
I changed the battery tried a few things a found on the threads, pressed on of the fob button, it works once and then does not. I am so afraid to do something bad, that I'll live for now with one set of keys
I do not have a touch screen, nor navigation, bummer I would have loved it.
The fancy panel means the phone touches 1-0 just like a touchtone telephone. . I pressed today on the key that represents a phone and I had a message "no phone" that displayed.
On the steering wheel there is a button that represent a voice and a phone I pressed on it the the radio muted
How can I know if the bluetooth works?
Thanks again for all your help
Marc
