Default Manual Shift Knob

My manual shift knob on my 03 S-type id getting torn up. The knob pushes on and does not screw. Any idea where I could get a replacement or even an aftermarket that will fit this application?

I would bet that the manual shift knob for an X-Type would work as well. Could you post up pictures of the knob you have and the bare shifter stem.

For reference here are some links to the stores on E-bay selling the wood knobs. I actually purchased from the first store back when I had my S Type..Good stuff.

Burl Wood, Fishing Books items in Jaguar Custom Creations and More store on eBay!

He also has a few listings for the X-Type manual transmission knob

Here is the seller's store that Mikey was referring to...

A company in Florida " British Autowood " actually makes them. Some of the ones I have seen for sale on line look like their work.

British Autowood from Florida is also on E-Bay.

Walnut Burl Gear Shift Knobs XJ6, XJS items in British Autowood Dashboard Woodwork Restoration store on eBay!

I didn't list him at first because his prices have always been more than the other two.

The two I listed before do their own work and DO NOT buy their knobs. They are both craftsmen that make their own products. I referenced user "zahnieblack" on ebay since I had personal experience with him. He is also the only seller I found that has listings for a manual transmission.

The one that Mikey referenced also has reasonable prices and a real solid reputation... but does not list any for a manual transmission.

Funny thing is all three of these sellers are still in my saved sellers on my E-bay account... LOL

@mikewv100

I put up a quick thread over in the X Type section to see if they use the same shaft.

Another option would be to look over the pond.. The manual transmission S Type is much more common in the UK and rest of Europe. The problem there is the exchange rate does not favor us at the moment.

yea, Richard, I have that brochure as well. Unfortunately, all those accessory shift knobs in there are for automatic cars, not the manual transmission cars.

They mount in two different ways...

Mike, call around to any upholstery shop near you. Many of them will work in leather. Honestly, if you really just want it wrapped, that would be easy.

Might just be possible to modify the original manual knob and build a wood one around it?

Cheers,

Hi All,

I just contacted my Local Jaguar dealer (Grange) after searching round on the internet trying to find one and they can get them in a couple of days for £90 + VAT.

Regards
Andy
