Mafioso if it's not to much trouble could you pm me who your extended warranty is through. I'm in the market for a STR and sounds like it maybe a good investment.

Thanks
JD

No I have never had the car on a dyno. I am old school & don't want to break anything. The only dyno experince I have is that I was there when Thundercat had his car on a dyno. I may when I finally finnish everything which will be the cams Avos is making & a few intake upgrades. I don't think headers are something I will do as I have so much invested in the Arden exhaust. I am going to run with a stock 2012 XKR to see how the car performs, I think that will be no problem. When we get an XKRS in I will do the same, my feeling is the car should be equal to or a little faster given my final upgrades & gearing. Time will tell.

For those interested in the warranty:

American Automotive Services
1-800-205-8988
They are the same company that backed the Hyundai assurance program.

Park Place Jaguar, Formally known as Overseas.

I have an appt on the dyno this week, since I've hit the 500 break in miles.

Quick update, I went on the dyno today, since I now have 1500 miles on the motor I wanted to make sure everything was seated well and the motor wa well broken in.

So after the oil and fuel filter change. I headed up to the speed shop. best pull of the day gave me 386WHP/398 Ft/Lb of torque. OAT was 68 degrees
My AFR was 11 at the peak which I know I can dip into the 12's playing with plugs so thats next. just need to get some other things squared away first.(Got laid off at the beggining of the month so I have been job hunting.)

mind you I have the cats under car, (Monster-FLO 2.5" in and out) 2.5" pipe to 18" 2.5" resonators to dual X pipes (2.5") going to a pair of 2.5" in 4" out Spires mufflers.
My intake elbow, fresh oil, fresh K&N, fresh fuel filter.

386 rear wheel hp? I think that works out to approx. 450+ chp....and that's without a pulley. Awesome! I'm going on the dyno tomorrow...You posted a 11:1 a/f ratio. Do you believe this to be optimum? Can we go higher? How much total timing is safe? What would be the optimum redline before limiter?

Ideally I think we can get away with 11.5-11.75 with the massive amount of timing our motors run.

Thanks. What about redline? 6500 rpm max?

Remember, for a car to get a rating of 400HP that has to be over a variety of sustainable conditions.

Cars with intercoolers always do best when they're cool. So maybe it wouldn't do quite that well out on the open road when it's warm out?

The thing I always ask about interesting "solutions" like this is why don't we see this on race cars? We have had AC systems on race cars recently to keep drivers from frying so if they can do that why hasn't it shown up on race cars? Drag cars don't count.

Or why haven't this appeared on street cars like some of the big supercharged or turbocharged Mercedes? Those models aren't very worried about complexity or fuel mileage but if this works so well then where is it?

This solution is used to overcome a very inefficient working supercharger as it is working outside of its 'normal' range. It’s also not for continues usage (as the sc would generate more btu then the airco could deal with), but works very well for occasional pulls, where in-between there is time to cool down the coolant/buffer again.

For race cars you would design a system that is as efficient as possible in the first place, that doesn’t generate excessive heat that needs to be combatted again, all lost energy. Obviously that also goes for road going cars.

There has been 1 exception and as far as I can remember it was Ford F150 or something. That one had 2 coolant circuits for the supercharger, one as we normally see, so a radiator at front, but the 2nd one (with a buffer of course) would be cooled during normal driving by the airco unit. At full throttle (or via a switch, can’t remember), the “cold” circuit would be opened, giving some extra oomphf.

Avos, in the morning or when engine is cool, I can light the wheels up at will all the way down the road. She pulls like a Brahma bull...30 minutes later there's a noticeable drop in power. On cool temp. the fun goes on a little longer...Need a "Chiller Killer".

You need a Quaife, Quaife Engineering
or an OS Giken Top Page | OS GIKEN

They both offer an LSD setup for your car. That will give you traction along with a good set of Michelin tires.

my Dyno pull was in almost the best optimal conditions 1600 miles on the motor and blower, it was 71 degree's out. I did let the car cool down for almost 2 hrs after the 1 hr drive to the shop.

Im only posting the number to satisfy anyones curiousity to what a NEW drivetrain can do.

I have noticed the consequences of heat soak more now then before. like Seth mentioned.

I would be very curious to dyno the heatsoaked motor and see just how bad the loss really is.

Aha! There's an article in the current (Nov 2011 I think, but may be Oct) edition of Jaguar World Monthly about using a Quaife LSD in an STR. Done by TL Jaguar over here.

(I didn't buy the magazine as I'm not gonna be doing this LOL)
