Drove the car today, and it might be because I havent driven it, In a hot minute.

holy mother of .............

I need to finish break in once I get it back (tomorrow)

But it has new motor, accessories, blower, intercoolers, radiator, trans cooler, oil coolers. front mount air/water intercooler (if you want to call it that)

All new hoses through and through. nothing was reused from the old motor except the intake tube that runs over the blower outlet manifold, that survived with the exception of a couple scratches in the coating. and the blower outlet manifold.

The dealer really went crazy replacing and flushing stuff.
The almost ENTIRE cooling system was replaced for fear of metal contamination.

Only thing left original was the heater core. I have the spare parts, (expansion tank, DCCV, water pump, intercooler pump and old hoses)

I had also mentioned that I was starting to get the hunting from 5-6 so they changed the Valve body, pan/filter. and torque converter.
The tranny does have the latest flash in the TCM.

Total Bill: $19,837.24
My out of pocket $1,338.38

Now Im just waiting for the Dealer to get the check in hand so they can release the car to me. (it shipped out this morning)

Now the kicker...... I had mentioned installing the smaller pulley and the Dealer had asked me why I didnt bring it to them, and I told them because I wanted to dyno the new motor fairly stock (my intake elbow only, and full manifold back exhaust)
But they asked me to bring it back and they would be happy to install the pulley and the Chiller for $600. Needless to say I was shocked!!

Default $19k ?! Holy Shirt

Mafioso, get me that "Chiller" dude. Happy to hear yer girl is coming home. New motor has new cams, valves, and rings (not worn) etc....should be peppier. Shoot, the dealer is more than happy to install the pulley and chiller for $600 cause he just got (getting) $20k from the warranty company. You're his customer of the week bro. Yer gunna get invited to the holiday parties in the owners penthouse so ya can conjugate with the bunnies he hides from his wife.

Are you saying they will install the Killer Chiller for $600.00 ??? If so that is a great price. They have no idea what they are getting into. You will love the difference with the chiller, I was working on my car today checking the trans fluid so the car was idling for app 5 minutes, it still amazes me to see the condensation on both charge coolers.

JAXKR, you run a "chiller", is it the "Chiller Killer"? Where did you get your chiller? What was the cost of the unit and install? Does she run strong for a long time as she would shortly after start-up? In other words; power matching that of a cool day, all or most of the day?

I have a Killer Chiller Home Page it has been in the car for over a year now. Joe was very helpful with any questions I had. My car has a gauge on the outlet side of the charge coolers & am able to moniter it with a gauge on the a post. The system I have includes 2 pumps for the supercharger circuit & a seperate resevoir so it is isolated from the engine. I run the cooling system in reverse so the coolant goes into the r/s cooler then it is plumbed to the l/s ( this was after seeing how Rocketsports plumbed theres as well as speaking to Tony) then out where the gauge is mounted to a second pump then to a 1 gallon resevoir (supercharger radiator eliminated) the to the Killer Chiller which goes back to the original pump. The temp of the coolant is amazing whenthe Eaton M112 was fitted on a hard run up to app 130 mph @ over 18psi of boost the discharge temp would go to 150 & as soon as you let off would drop right back down going back to app the same as the ambient. With the Kenne Bell the temp only peaks at app 120. I have to say the only down side to the Chiller is that if the A/C ever fails you really can't drive the car. It is amazing to sit in traffic & see the outlet temp the same as ambient. The problem with fitting the kit in a Jag is you are putting a square peg in a round hole, the installation took us over 2 days.

Man Mafioso, I'm jealous of your warrantee. I spent $1300 within the first 2 weeks of owning my car. I wish I had a brand new long block in my car! Good to hear you're back on the road.

Jaxkr, that's awesome about the killer chiller. So you have the KC and a kenne bell upgrade? What kind of power is that making?

WOW! jaxkr, ditto to qwiketz. U run a KB too? Avos has the same car as you with a twin screw (KB?), no chiller, putting out 600+ hp. The chiller setup you have sounds complicated. I'm sure there is a standard set-up for the "Chiller Killer" that uses the stock intercooler radiator.

If you do some research you will find that using the stock intercooler radiator will actually decrease the efficency of a Killer Chiller. You would be heating the coolant up. The only time you might want the stock radiator would be in very cold weather. I was driving today with outside temp 84 cruising at 90 mph & the discharge temp was 76. When you eliminate the s/c radiator you are also increasing the air flow to the factory radiator. If you look back into other posts regarding s/c radiators they were looking to increase capacity not the width of the core, by adding a resevoir/holding tank such as Avos has done you are far better off. The biggest problem with the chiller is space.

Way better, it feels so much stronger but that could be the lack of driving it, I have already made a dyno appt for next saturday so numbers will tell it all.

Jaxkr. So...delete the s/c radiator and install the "Chiller Killer"? Must the coolant lines be routed as you did, or is there a standard install?

Mafioso, awesome you and the gal are reunited. I swear my STR runs stronger and has longer shift points after the ECU was removed, analyzed, then reinstalled.

The install is going to have to be custom, Iwent with what worked for me which turned out to be eliminating the radiator, adding the resevoir then installing the Chiller in line. You have to reealize my cooling system had already be modified.

Oh come on now, you know you're gonna miss that HHR rental ...

So was there any final determination as to what went wrong with the original service that created this huge mess?

Congrats on getting the insurance policy to cover this as well as it did.

jaxkr, I'll leave the intercooler radiator on cause i drive her into the autumn then she rests during the winter. Can you post some engine bay shots too? Thanks for the radiator pics with "Chiller" in view. So, say she's all warmed up and I'm doing a strong run to 120 mph...she'll get hot but how long will it take for charge to cool down if coast at 55 mph?

I think you missed my point, the only time the radiator might be of any help is the winter otherwise it is working against the Chiller. You should contact Joe Kincaid he can also explain it to you. The coolant is so cold with the chiller the radiator actually heats it up.
