Question 04 S-Type ATM problem

My 04 S-Type transmission is stuck in reverse, but the I can shift the shifter to the park position. Has anyone had this issue?

Common cause is the 2 shifter cable adjuster bolts (10mm) on the drivers side transmission are loose or may have fallen out.

There are two small bolts under the car that lock the shift cable, I'd start checking there.

I guess automatic transmission. Weird abbreviation, especially as not unique.
