Default 06 STR - Need Help w/ Brakes

Hey guys,

I'm getting a brake job done. I'm trying to save money on the front 2 rotors. I'm undecided with these 2 options:

1.) 2 - EBC Rotors (front) are $473.66
EBCBrakes | EBC UPR Non-Slotted Rotors | Shop EBC Brakes offers Free Ground Shipping on Brake Orders over $50.00!

2.) 2 - Premium Dimpled and Slotted Rotors (front) are $231.96 (liftetime warranty)
Premium Dimpled and Slotted Brake Rotors

I'd like to go with option 2 and save money but not sure if I would get better braking performance with the EBC's which I know are good quality. Advice is greatly appreciated.

I will also get a brake fluid flush done, I was going to use:

ATE 706302 Original Super Blue Racing DOT 4 Brake Fluid - 1 Liter
Amazon.com: ATE 706302 Original Super Blue Racing DOT 4 Brake Fluid - 1 Liter: Automotive Amazon.com: ATE 706302 Original Super Blue Racing DOT 4 Brake Fluid - 1 Liter: Automotive

Is this fluid ok to use? If so, is 1 Liter enough to completely refill the brake fluid?

I appreciate any help with these questions.

Thanks!

Drilled and slotted make no difference in stopping distance on a street driven car, it's an appearance thing only. There's little difference in stopping distance from one manufacturer's rotor to another also- it's the pads that make the difference.

+1 mikey, another thing to bear in mind slotted/drilled rotors (or brake discs in the uk) will make more noise than "standard" rotors (discs)

Thanks Mikey. I was going with Akebono ceramic pads. Any thoughts in regards to my brake fluid questions?

Just be careful that you are getting the correct rotors. You have the first year STR after they dropped the large Brembo brakes. The STR's have always had problems with the correct parts because they are different from the standard S Type.

Do they list the 2006-2008 STR rotor’s separately from the 2003-2005 models?

I would have at least 2ltrs in stock before starting the brake fluid empty and re-fill job.

Yes, they list them separately. Thanks for the heads up.

Yes I looked at the listing but they only show 2006? If you get them let us know if they fit properly. Might help another 2006-2008 STR owner.

You have a rare car!
