2000 S-Type 4.0 no heat while driving
Hey guys, This problem has been bugging me the past few days. This post will
be long, so please forgive me. I just want to give all the info I can.
First I'll list the problem, then all the steps I've taken to try to rectify the problem.
The Problem: NO heat while driving.
Once car is at operating temperature, it takes approx 10 minutes to get 95
degrees at the vent with a dial type thermometer. (ambient temp in garage
was 64 degrees) Within a minute of driving, it dropped to 75 degrees,(ambient outside temp was 51 degrees) so I stopped and used an IR thermometer on the heater core lines (2 in, 1 out). They showed 140 driver in, 138 passenger in, 170 out.
I stayed stopped for 5 minutes and vent temp rose to 85 degrees. within a
minute of driving again, vent temp dropped to 70 degrees. At a stop light,
the temp rose to 72 degrees, and by the time I made it back to the garage,
vent temp was down to 68 dgrees. After 22 minutes of idling in garage, vent
temp was up to 100 degrees. ( I might add that the heater core inlets and
outlet was 157-160 degrees after the 22 mminute idle)
Here's what I've done:
bled system as per the #3 post from this thread
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...roblems-88060/
(7 times, last 3 had no air at all)
Tested the DCCV by applying power and ground to each valve and an audible
click was heard both open and closed. Could not blow through valve when
valve was activated. .6 amp draw and both valves open and close. Got all
back together and filled with water for testing and made sure to bleed air
out. Have 13.4 volts to middle wire on plug while vehicle running. Switching
heater to cold shows ground engaged on left and right pins.
Checeked operation of Aux Water Pump, as well as signal
Swapped out Climate Control Module
cycled from max heat to max A/C several times
During the operation i checked for amp draw across #1 fuse:
At full A/C, there was a 4.43 amp draw.
With A/C relay pulled, there was a 1.43 amp draw.
With A/C and aux water pump relays pulled, there was a 1.43 amp draw.
Which tells me that the aux water pump does not run while A/C is on, and the
1.43 amp draw was from the heater valves being closed. With full heat there
is a .81 amp draw. A/C relay removed showed no change. Removing the aux
water pump relay there was no draw at all. When shutting the car off there
is a 1.43 amp draw for approximately 5 minutes, then no draw at all. When
the car is shut off, it shuts both heater valves for that approx 5 min I belive since aux water pump was not running.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
