2000 S type looses heat, coolant, and oil
Hi all,
Trying to see if theres a common issue this could be.... im hoping its not a head gasket.
My mothers 2000 s type 3.0 has been burning oil for a few years. its usually low about a quart every 3000 miles. so thats no big deal, i just check it between oil changes and keep it on the high side of the dipstick.
about 6 months ago, i had to top off the antifreeze. and a week ago she said she had no heat so i checked the coolant again and i had to add quite a bit... maybe a quart and a half or so.... after i added the coolant, the heat did NOT come back.
there is also an egr valve code which i would assume is completely unrelated.
thanks,
tony

I'd guess she has a leak somewhere (the car not your mother) I wouldn't fret too much about head gaskets right now.
Are you certain it has not overheated at some time? The expansion tank is the usual suspect.
The early cars can be tricky to bleed, there is a valve around the brake master cyl I think, have a trawl through the forum it is well documented, prbaly in the "How To" section.

+1 to above, once leak is found / fixed if you still have no heat have a look here DIY: Diagnose It Yourself - JaguarClimateControl.com
thanks guys, ill look into it.
i did forget to mention that the car has around 210,000 miles, and there are no puddles left in the garage where the jag stays every night. but i assume the suggestions stand.
