2000Jaguar S-Type
That's what I was thinking was the case as I knew it needed signal from the transmission. If I had to guess based on what I know right now I would have to say it would be the module since the 3rd brake light isn't working either. I had to replace the BCM in my GTO because the low speed fan output went out, so I was out $180 to do it myself. I haven't looked up the cost of the part yet if that turns out to be the case, but I'm going to look it up right now.

I'm not sure why individuals detest these vehicles to such an extent. I accept it comes down to the mentality of the proprietor. A 2000 Honda Civic driver says they have the most dependable vehicle ever and they love it ( 2 of the windows don't move down, inside is self-destructing yet it actually begins stops and gets them puts so in this way it's extraordinary.)

You haven't indicated your location (a common failing to be sure...); if you are in the States, most chain store auto parts places will scan your car for diagnostic trouble codes at no charge. Bring the actual codes (e.g., P0300) back and share them with us and we will try to help...
