Ever since obtaining this beautiful machine earlier this year, I've been taking my time repairing things. The radio's reception was bad. No AM, and only a few FM stations and they were not great. I first checked the JTIS, and Owner's Manual. I don't remember which, or maybe in a thread, but I was directed to check the fuse in the engine compartment #1 as it may kill the antenna booster if bad. It was good.
I pulled the radio to check to see if the antenna connector fell out or was loose. It wasn't.
Back to the JTIS. I go back and reread. There is a mention in the description "The antenna module to antenna cable in located along the C-pillar and also routed across the roof panel". To me, that didn't say the module was in the C-pillar area, I took it to be that is where the connection is. What convinced me of that is further down the page where the Removal and Installation of the Antenna Isolator Module 86.51.08 tells me to tear apart the trunk, detach this and that, with nice drawings.
So, I pulled the trim out of the luggage compartment (trunk in the USA) and driver's side in the trunk to access the Antenna Isolator Module. It wasn't there. I tried the other side, it wasn't there either. I saw where the mounting bolts screw in to and a few unused electrical connectors. Not looking good. I was beginning to wonder if the car had been wrecked and not put together properly. (I had that rear window issue, so that theory popped up quickly)
Back to the JTIS. I'm going to pull the trim off the C-pillar and see whats there. Well, hello there antenna module. You look a bit pekid today. You might look a whole lot better if the dual connector that is hanging off was actually connected to the glass antenna connection. (Circled in blue below) I did remember to test the radio before I began reconstruction. Radio works great, AM and FM.
Anyway, took most of the afternoon to find the module and about 10 seconds to plug it back in. I'll finish putting everything back together tomorrow. Getting old and not as twisty as I used to be.
Next project is the DCCV (no heat). At least I know where that one is. )
nice! From what angle is this taken? what structures am I looking at?
I'm sitting on the area where the back seat cushion would be on the back seat area. I'm looking at the C-Pilar and you can see the rear glass and rear left hand passenger seat belt upper anchor.
