This just started last night. Got into the car, closed the driver's door, and the interior lights stayed on at full brightness, normally they dim down until off. Got out and open and closed all 4 doors. No luck. I could not drive with the interior lights on (night time) so I pulled the fuse in the trunk (which also made turn signals etc not work).

The dashboard lights wont dim either.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Also, if this is a hard fix that might take me a while, how might I remove the bulbs from the overhead console so I could put the fuse back in?

 

it just pulls down from the front 2 clips at the front edge a clip a 1/3 way up each side a clip each side near the back side. there is a small screw visible when the sunglasses holder is down. i find you dont need to remove this, but jaguar say you do. you will most likely find it very hard to pull down starting from the front it took 2 of us the first time gradually getting our fingers in the front edge and peeling it down as we went towards the back. hope yours is easier.

Mine does not have a sunglasses holder and finding something at the forward edge to pull down was not successful. I hesitate to insert a tool in there, am sure I will break or damage something.

Obviously there is a difference between yours and mine. But thanks.

 

I found the solution to my problem. It seems I valet parked my car and the valet was curious what all the buttons were and pushed a button on the overhead console. It turned on the lights. Since I never use that button I did not realize that was the problem.

Anyway, long story short, problem solved.

 

Will you be going back there with your boxcutter to castrate that valet?

 

No, but he's found a new use for the Valet Key.
