Hey all

I have a weird problem with my jag, every time I put pressure on the brake pedal there's quite a loud clicking sound that I can also feel in the pedal. It gets louder the harder I push the pedal but if push it really hard the sound and pulsing can't be felt. It is a continuous clicking sound while the pedal is being pressed, stationary or moving its the same. Release the brake pedal and the clicking sound stops. The brakes work fine, no lights and no codes.

Also, if I then the ignition on (without starting the engine) there's a very faint clicking sound coming from somewhere around the ABS pump.

I've searched alot and haven't found anything, I've only found clicks coming from the j shifter. This is coming from somewhere else.

Any ideas what it could be?

As I said, there's no lights on, no codes. The brakes work fine and the abs works fine (tried it many times now in all this snow!)

Has anyone performed a brake system inspection?

Are the pads worn?

Does the ABS operate with a pulsing vibration through the brake pedal?

How many kilometres/miles are on the vehicle?

Pads and rotors are fine, it's just recently passed the inspection. The ABS operates as it does in any other car. 170,000 miles with complete service history & 2 owners before me.

The brake pedal is abit spongy, I figured that was because the pads have barely no miles on them.

​​​​​​The click is like an electric click, like a loud replay switching on and off constantly.

I removed the fuse for the ABS and the clicking sound has gone, also the slight pulsing feeling that I could feel too.

Has any work been done to the vehicle that required opening the hydraulic system? If so, they system may have some air trapped.

HI, I really have no idea. I haven't had the car long. So it's possible that bleeding the brakes could solve the issue?

Well the problem has just disappeared.. Quite strange lol I guess it will probably come back again.

You may want to consider a brake fluid flush, it may not take care of the noise but it will get rid of the old fluid. Old brake fluid contains moisture and the slow breakdown of rubber components in the brake system, this is why new fluid is clear and the old fluid not so much. Jaguar recommends brake fluid flushes as part of maintenance.
