My daughter has a 2002 s-type 3.0. Two days ago car would not start.Turned over, no start. Left car and alarm went off. Used key to reset alarm (lock, unlock) car then started. Next day... no start again after going to city and having lunch. I went up to help.This time no crank. Tapped on starter,nothing. Gear selecter fine, only noticed air bag light on, key out! Set off alarm, still no luck. Unhooked positive battery cable, re-hooked and wa-la, started right up! She called when she got home to tell me that now the car wont shut off. She was in the house with key in hand. To Kill the car at my shop, I had to unhook battery, then pull relays.
Same senerio to start or kill car!
Any ideas?

 

Maybe a faulty relay? Or faulty wiring (I'd start with the stuff where the key goes). Not easy DIY unless you're good with electrics etc. Swapping relays is pretty easy, though

 

Thanx, but tried the relay thing last week. I'm thinking maybe control module, because of the battery reset. Or maybe security system problem. Never ran into a situation with a gas engine not shutting down when you pull the key out, only diesel.
