Why can I find instrument clusters for sale on the STR if one can't reflash it and use it?

 

Yes and no.

 

Ask the seller.

You can find almost anything for sale, useless or not - I thought everyone knew that!!

 

If what I have been reading is correct, I just purchased a 2003 cluster, which seems to be interchangeable with 2003-2005, and am looking for another EMC, but my question is, since ECM's are programmable, I can use either the 3.0, 4.0, or 4.2 for that year? I found an independent Jag technician here in Dallas, so I plan on towing it to his place after the Jag dealer decided to think they were going to charge me $1200 for a cluster and $1500 for an ECM, without knowing if that was the issue on why my car wasn't starting past position 2.

I found this link on an EMC issue Jagman had that sounds pretty similar to my problem...curious if this could work.
