Default 2004 s-type 3 litre 6 speed auto Parking sensor

Hello everyone, hopefully someone can help
I have just brought my First Jaguar and love it. However I am having an issue with the reverse parking sensors. Here is what happens
When I start the car and put it in reverse the sensor works just fine, if I drive a short distance it works fine. but if I drive for say 30 or 40 minutes the sensor just send out a continuous beep - like I'm about to reverse into something.
If I shut the car down (turn the engine off and remove the key) then restart the car it seems to reset and is fine. However the next time I try to park the same thing happens
I am thinking its a sensor overheating. but dont know where the parking sensors are or how to test
any help or Ideas world be greatly appreciated
Also this is my first post so if Im in the wrong section or if Im not supply the correct information please let me know so I can improve my posts for a better result for everyone
thanks again

Welcome to the forum ausjag,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to S-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

GGG has moved your question to the correct section. I'd recommend you post all your S-Type specific questions to the "S-Type / S-Type R Supercharged V8" Forum for the best help pertaining to your 2004 3.0L S-Type. There are some amazing, knowledgeable people in this group who know these cars inside and out (I am not one of them).

The #1 Best Thing you can do so they can help you is to put the details of your car in your signature, similar to what GGG and I have in ours.

To edit your signature: click on "UserCP" in the black bar toward the top of any Forum page, then click "Edit Signature" in the left column and enter your car details, the most important of which are Year, Model & Engine; if you had an S-Type R (you don't) we'd want to know that too. Some people include other details like mileage, color, diesel, sport, etc.

This way we know what car you're talking about and you don't have to re-enter it manually with every post. These threads can get very long and we don't want to continually page back to post #1 to remember what car we're talking about.

The 2nd best thing you can do to get answers to your questions is to use the Search Feature and search the forum for answers BEFORE posting a question, as most issues relating to these cars have already been discussed in great detail. Forum members will be much more willing to help you if you've made an effort to help yourself first.

The 3rd best thing you can do is to get an OBDII scanner, like the ELM327. If you have problems one of the first questions forum members will ask is "Did you read the codes?" A scanner is an inexpensive diagnostic tool every Forum member should have.

On my '03 S-Type the parking sensors are 4 disc-shaped things embedded into the rear bumper. Yours may be different. Again, SEARCH the forum for "Parking Sensors", "Reverse Sensors", "Reverse Aids", "Parking Aids", etc. You may find someone else already had your problem and the fix is posted.

And be aware that these cars are electrically demanding, meaning a battery that is failing will cause all kinds of flaky behavior with electronic components. So if your battery is not up to snuff, get it fully charged BEFORE trouble shooting any problems. See the link in my signature for more info.

If I missed something, or misstated something, I hope others will chime in and correct my mistake.

Good luck!
Steve
