Default 2005 Jaguar STR codes

I am new, but Ihave been reading the forum for quite awhile. I am picking up a 2005 Jaguar S Type R next week. It shows the following codes:b1318, p1111, p0098, p1313, p0301,p0304,p0300. I figured new plugs, coils and maybe 02 sensors would fix these up. Or should I run away from this car? It has 81,500 miles on it.

The real question is can you do the work?

My 2005 STR has been my daily driver for 6+ years and I have never been stranded even once. I have had several coolant leaks that required filling up the radiator for the drive home.

We have all the STR problems figured out on this list. So if you are willing to do the work you can have a fast luxury sedan for Ford/Chevy prices.

If you plan to have a shop or dealer do your repairs I would just stop now and go buy something else.

I can do the work, but my son is a mechanic, so I just assist him

Not a show stopper. I'd make the seller fix it prior to continuing your pre-purchase inspection.

Then get the car and download your shop manual and parts catalog which are both free on this forum.

They will help a huge amount! Plus you can't beat the price.

Found the parts manual easy. Shop manual, whoa, that is a hard one to figure out how to download. Any direct links for the 2005 model?

Also, the previous owner had the wheels painted black. Can this be reversed?

Depends on how the wheels were coated? Powder coating is tough and you might be able to just powder coat over the top of the black. I would go to a wheel/rim store and see what they recommend. Just so many options these days.

Here is the JEPC-This is the parts manual.

Here is the JTIS- The shop manual.

If you get too bogged down or don't want to mess with it you can get PDF disc's on EBay for about $10-$15. Some people have found this easier. The shop manual only goes up to 2004 model year but by that time the S Type was dead in the water and Jaguar did very little to it until it was cancelled in 2008.
