Default 2005 STR headlight adjustment

Hi,
New member, just bought a 2005 STR today.
I noticed the lights were aligned wrong tonight and tried to fix them.
I found 2 adjustment places on each side.
The ones on the further most outside of the car didnt move the Xenons and I couldn't figure out what they were for actually, and in fact the plastic broke and stripped as I was trying to turn them so they are almost useless now (i think).
The inner ones on each side are for the Xenons but the PASSENGER side one is broken it seems as turning it does not adjust the bulb .

Anyone have experience with this? Do I need to replace the headlight assembly?
Are they easy to find/cheap?

Thanks!

Welcome. Please put your car details in your profile or signature as we'll otherwise keep asking

There's a thread all about headlights. Just look, it's at or near the top. I've not messed with those adjustments as I haven't needed to but I think they're mentioned in that thread.

Worth your time to read lots of old threads. And get JTIS (more reading will find you it).

Congrats gdc, don't forget to make an introduction at the new member section as well.
Heres the link for the headlamp fix. If you need to remove the bumper skin there is a FAQ on that as well.

They are for two different adjustments. Up and down and right and left. How were you checking to see if the lights were moving or not? Here is a picture of what to turn. I put the car on flat ground and use the garage door as my screen. Mine moved enough to see the difference but it is somewhat slow. Yes you have fouled up the adjusters. Sorry I have never fixed this?

SEE MY THREAD ON STYPE HEADLIGHT REPAIR. I RECOMMEND THIS BEFORE THEYRE BROKEN TO INCREASE INTEGRITY OF THE PART THAT BREAKS, AND AFTER THEY BREAK

Could you ( or someone) post the correct measurements for the individual targets on the garage door relative to the car's headlights such as distance fro the door, height, angle if required, etc?

A link to an aiming diagram would be helpful too.

Thanks

I did this repair to my passenger side and they do still self level! I too have de laminated the lens from the headlight assembly. I made a new ball and slide piece for the drivers side out of nylon and it works great but the other one went at a bad time so I did the quick fix. I may make a new part for the passenger side one day too but if this keeps working maybe not!

Someone should offer a quick fix $300 + core solution.
You send us repaired headlight set, and we send you our old ones.

This keeps you going with stock to fix.

I think brutal was going to attempt a repair program, not sure about the 'swap' idea. Maybe that was the x-type lamps, not sure.

^^^at 1 point yes, but with having to totally replace all the plastic in an Xtype light that makes up the mounts. I tossed the idea, too much hassle for the ROI of time and money. plus many would have to have the lights sanded and polished to bring back to a sellable condition. If new parts were offeredd by hella then that would be different
