Default 2006 Jaguar S-Type phone system

I just purchased a used 2006 Jaguar S-Type and I am trying to pair my cell phone with the vehicle. When you push the telephone icon, a message 'Handset In Use' comes up and it will not let me go any further. I tried what the handbook said, turning off the car and waiting 5 minutes, but the message will not go away. What can I try now?

Are you pairing it correctly? See this: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...jaguar-152369/

Welcome to the forum SKing,

All Jaguars have the phone buttons but the MAJORITY of Jaguar buyers didn't go for the expensive option of the OE Jaguar Telephone system. Make sure your vehicle has BT installed before troubleshooting phone connection issues.

If it has the factory BT system, you should find a microphone in the overhead, somewhere between the driver's visor and overhead center console, I think. I don't recall any other physical visual cue that the car is so-equipped.

+1 on this - I was lucky and did look for the microphone before trying to pair my phone with my S-Type *but* didn't check the build and spent ages trying to get JaguarTalk up and running when in truth it was never fitted LOL

Also note that the BT connection is for voice calls in and out ONLY, on Jaguars of this year - no music streaming, or texts display - I spent a while researching how to that too - to no avail lol However the BT connection does work well and audio is clear both ways on calls just be aware that the S-Type keeps the connection live for 5 mins or so after the ignition is switched off so you can lose calls in that period if you are unaware of the 5 minute grace period after exiting.

Here you go, for others who need it. There seems to be several feeds on bluetooth but this is the one you need to look at for s types
