2006 S Type Sport 3.0 117000km Chatter Noise -
Good evening everyone. I have this strange sound that my car makes while driving. If I am from a stop - and start to drive normally - around the 3000 rpm mark...I hear this chatter sound....I would say its in the first 3 gears - car is shifting fine - except for the LURCH that I could never solve.
Now strange part...if the car is in Park or N - and I rev it...to around 3000rpm.....I can not get the noise to happen....only while driving.....can this be a Torque Converter issue? I am getting no codes on the dash.
Also - under the car the transmission seems to have a little seepage...is this normal?
I do have Easy Total Care until Feb 2013 up to 140 000....THANK GOD.
Thank you in advance!

That "seepage" under your transmission may be the dreaded ZF electrical connector sleeve beginning to leak. Plenty of information about that here on the forum. It's a $15 part that will cost you significantly more than that to replace because your ATF must be drained and your ZF pan removed in order to replace the leaking sleeve with a new one....
Once those sleeves start to leak, you do not know how much ATF you've lost. So read up on the issue and watch it carefully. Sooner or later you'll have to change that sleeve or else risk burning up your ZF once your ATF has leaked away below a sufficient level....
