Default 285/35 or 295/35 on rear str

I know a few people put 285:35/18 on rear of an 03 str. With no problems... Has or can u run a 295/35/18 tire in rear of an 03 str without issues or rubbing

Default Widest tire on STR

I run 285's. Mafioso runs 295's but they rub when he pushes down on car or it goes into a dip. A few mechanics plus a tire salesman advized me that 285's are all she can take. Go with 285's.

Im using 285/35/18 in my STR... Believe me, you dont have to worry about tire rubbing in the outside so much as you have to in the inside. When I had my tires replaced I took a look under the car while the car was on the lift, and there was maybe a 1/4 of an inch left in between the tire and the inner fender.

I have also chosen 255/40/18 for the front with no issues either.

Depending on the manufacturer, some 285's and 295"s, etc. are wider/narrower than other manufactiurers...all about ratios to height to width.

Why? Trying to reduce performance? Prefer the look despite that?

If they're not any of the sizes specified by jag they'd invalidate your car insurance here (quite likely a criminal offence too - car judged unroadworthy, yes maybe harsh but who'd try to argue I wonder).

"No wide muscular tires for you young man" "You can't have your meaty tires until you've changed your oil" "How can you change your oil till you have wide tires" "All in all you're just another brick in the wall" (Pink Floyd "The Wall"). LOL!

Sorry for just now jumping in, Im running 295/30/18 with a 5mm spacer and no more rubbing. I noticed traction has increased greatly since I swapped over. Im running P-zeros if that helps.
I do have a spare P-zero if you interested it has about 90% tread left on it.

Just to confirm: 295/35 18 would rub (or worse!)? (It's a size the OP asked about)

They do say you can roll the fenders. I suppose you'd need spacers, too. Obviously you'll tend to make everything except straight-line from a stop handling worse. Dunno if you'll get a ricer violation.....
