2nd CPO: 2006 S-Type 3.0
I just bought it today. I bought an 03 in August of 2005 with 34K on it. Used the Factory warranty to replace the Steering Rack (Lots of back and forth noise), and the entire transmission (LURCH). The rack started squeaking again around 89K, and it was replaced under the CPO warranty. I was scared to death that the transmission would go again, so I traded it in for a 2006 with 39K fully CPO. After trading in my car, it was a no brainer 14K purchase.
Are the Lurch and other transmission issues far less common on these 2006's?
This car has the Sirius radio installed as a dealer option, and it seems a mess. I want to get the old ash tray cover, and get rid of this junk (FM Modulated!).
Does anyone have any good sources for the ashtray cover? Dealer wants over $250 for two pieces, the only way they sell it.

You should be able to find the ashtray parts on Car-part.com . Search for misc. interior trim for 03 and up. You may not find the actual part you are looking for. What I usually do is find someone who has a car that I'm looking for and call. Some are real helpful and others sometimes blow you off. This site is a national search of scrap yards. Also, be sure to carefully remove all the components of the Sat. Radio. You should be able to get something for it on ebay if you have everything for it. That is where I got mine. I also hate the fact that it is a "add on" unit that uses a FM Modulator. But I got it because it was cheap and the tuner module bolts into the trunk and wires into the harness. Since it is an aftermarket tuner, I noticed that it has a round plug that most aftermarket stereo units also have. So, if I ever replace the stereo I plan on having it control the unit. If that doesn't work, the unit also has standard audio out that can plug into an aux on a aftermarket unit. But for now it works pretty well, the signal drop from the FM Modulator isn't that bad since it is fed with an antenna wire. Hope this helps.
