Default 4.2 S-Type Thermostat housing END CAP leak

Hi all! Had my 2nd mishap in 2 days 2 months after acquiring my beast (4.2 2004 S-Type). 1st incident - pot hole damaged 2 rims, poor visibility at night! 2nd incident, got home from a 7km trip and found steam coming out of the bonnet. Discovered the end cap from the Thermostat housing (pn 2w-8A504-AC) came loose and leaked water. I hope it hasnt caused any serious damage!! Can I effect any repair to this end cap to secure it back? Will it be advisable?

Hiya

I have no experience with issues like yours but here is a link to a thread that might help. We have members who would know more and while waiting for them, you could use the search field in the upper right corner to learn more. That is what I used to find this thread. Good luck.
