5r55n auto gearbox swap
I have found a replacement 5r55n autobox to fit to my 2000 stype .
when fitted the ecu is coming up with lots and lots of faults.
Two people independantly told me the box was good.
Is there some electrical ecu handshake needed to make the gearbox work.

Here is a link to the Workshop Manual for the 5R55N:

What was wrong with the gearbox originally fitted to the vehicle?

Hi guys
The original 5r55n gearbox was oil changed and new filter fitted. It started slipping and produced the incorrect gear ratio fault codes when a sophisticated OBD scanner was put on.
i considered it cheaper to swap the auto box than pay for a servo valve repair.
The replacement autobox came with two independent approvals. The vendor who sold the car to a person who wanted the engine, and the person who wanted the engine and had driven the car to his workshop.
The replacement autobox received an oil and filter change before fitting.
I just don't believe all the fault codes now coming up. The car has almost no drive now . Reverse being the best. if you run through the gearbox P N R D you can feel it selecting.

The most common failure of the 5R55N is the intermediate and or overdrive band due to servo bore wear.
Has anyone checked the fluid level and electrical connector after fitting the used gearbox?
