Default 6 month update

Hello,

Haven't been around much since I bought the car mainly because I haven't had any issues.

Just thought I'd offer a few thoughts/comments on my experience so far.

In an attempt not to jinx myself I'm not going to say I love this car, but to this point I've really enjoyed it.

All I've done is trans fluid, brake pads and tires -- oh, and the drooping headlight trick.
The worst thing about it so far -- minor lurch -- not enough of a problem to do anything about.
My wife's the primary driver, just a few local miles a day. I jump in it now and then for an errand, and I've had the pleasure of driving it on some short trips, and one long.
The car's as comfortable to drive on the highway as it is fun around town. I constantly find myself wondering how sweet the STR's must be.

Wife ran over a small object in the road and punctured a tire. Didn't drive far, but enough to damage the side wall. The shop was kind enough to replace it at no cost even though I declined the "replacement" warranty when I bought them (probably something to do with the $2K I've spent there in the last 18 mo or so ). The damaged tire only had 1200 miles on it.

In 6 mo. We've only put about 4k on it. We try to put the big miles on the minivan.
Hopefully we'll get 3-5 good years out of it w/o too many expensive repairs.
I'm a DIY'er as much as possible -- unless it involves removing an engine I'm probably going to try.

So far so good .

You have about the most reliable and low cost S-Type you can get!
Second gen with the 6 speed ZF and the upgraded front suspension among a bunch of smaller improvements.

Just be sure and give her regular checks and fix things as they break. I can't emphasize this enough.

On the forum you read all the time of people having multiple things wrong and spend a fortune because it's impossible to figure out what's wrong.

Glad you and your wife have had a great experience so far, thanks for sharing! Continue on with routine maintenance and hopefully you'll be able to enjoy it for many years to come
