2007-2009 XKR 50-60k miles, what to look for when buying
Hey so I am looking into buying a used XKR from the 2007-2009 line up with 50k-60k miles on it.
Couple questions for the owners on this forum:
1. Should I be looking into buying a used XKR with this many miles on it?
2. What maintenance should I look for having being done recently? Tires, etc.
3. What maintenance issues should I expect after purchasing this car?
4. Anything else to note?
On a side note there is a 2009 XKR for a very low price with low miles, but it has a rebuilt title and is in FL. From everything I've heard, recommendation is to stay far away from rebuilt titles, but maybe some here with a different experience.

Probably once a week that same question is asked, take a look at the "search" feature here and you'll pull up MANY pages outlining exactly what you're looking for in great detail. Bottom line - incredible car with little worries surprisingly considering the name brand reputation.

First I'd want to know why it's a salvage. Aluminum bonded structures take specialty training and shops to repair properly if the car was a wreck. Flood cars plain scare me because of electrical issues that may arise as wires/connectors corrode.
For additional info use the search function. There's a bunch of good stuff here!

I just bought a 2008 XKR with 42k miles on it. As far as what to look for, I suggest a pre-purchase inspection, if you're not a mechanic. I did that and while the car was in great shape, it did reveal a slightly bent wheel, A/C issue (cost was only $135 to fix), but it's worth the money. As to maintenance, there's certainly a debate, but ideal if oil was changed every 5k or so vs. 10k, and I'm told the batteries do require frequent replacement. Check for regular brake fluid replacement and so forth as well.
The rebuilt title depends upon your use for the car. If you want only low cost enjoyment, that's great, but you absolutely must know exact why the title is rebuilt - these range from relatively minor impacts to major, major problems. In addition to a mechanical inspection, it's probably worth a detailed inspection by a qualified body shop. Hope that helps.

Sorry didn't notice your mention of "rebuilt title" unless you REALLY know what you're doing that is a huge red flag. Get a copy of the damage prior with pictures that the insurance company provided the shop, the work done, and references on the shop which did the work so you an perhaps tell if it was a hack shop or one of good reputationbefore you can make any sort of a educated decision... the general rule of thumb is run like hell especially on salvaged or rebuilt Jag XK's. Unless it was a theft recovery and they can substantiate that there was very little damage you're opening up a box of worms regardless of supposed savings upfront.
By using the SEARCH button above you'll also find a wealth of answers as that question also gets asked and answered often.
