PO had a hard time keeping the nose off of parking stops, the plastic 'air deflector/diffuser/skid plate' under the nose is busted up in places. Local dealer wants 275.00.

Was curious if there are any aftermarket versions, maybe even in aluminum. Not a big deal to me but thought I'd check before calling a few of our vendors on Monday.

Any other input regarding this would be appreciated.

 

It's called a Valance..fyi... called Nalley and it lists for $298.50, with our 15% discount it was $253.73 with free shipping.

For future reference it's #10 on this diagram. Never listed the PN so I'm not sure what it is but when I get the packing slip from Nalley I'm sure it will be on there.

 

Those valances and concrete stops don't mix well, so far mine has only bent but at $250 a pop I'll need to take more care.
There was a pic posted at one time of someone who had hooked the valance over the concrete and then pulled most of the front end of the car.

 

Yep when I first got my S-Type I didn't think about how much lower to the ground it is than any other car I've driven. Nearly smashed it up pretty good on some concrete parking lot stops. There are scrapes on it, but other than that ok for now.

 

After having an M3 and various other sports cars I'm pretty careful but it happens to us all.

Man, that took some serious effort....

Our valence has the usual surface scratches underneath but no serious damage. At the first oil & filter change I did to ours after purchasing it, while the car was still up on the ramps I crawled under the area with a manual sanding block and some 200-grit sandpaper and did a number on it. Certainly cleaned up the appearance of the visible bottom edges all along the front end. The plastic is relatively soft, so I believe you're safer and can keep better control of the final result if you do this manually as opposed to a powered sander....
