Default Airbag Light

Hi all,

I know there have been loads of posts about this, but I read that it's the seat heaters and I don't have heated seats.

I have error 3 6 flashing on my airbag light. I don't know what this is, but read that fiddling with the wires under the drivers seat can sometimes sort it. No such luck for me though

Whilst looking under the seat though, I did notice that there is a yellow plug with 2 wires going into it (hence my reference to heated seats) and one of the wires has come out.

Could this be the cause of my error 3 6 as I don't have heated seats?

Thanks
Mike

If I recall - code 36 relates to the side airbag (driver's side) low voltage/loose connection. I would recommend reading up on this.Sometimes, cleaning the connector to the side air bag and putting dielectric grease fixes the issue.

All seat harnesses (2000 - 2002 anyway) are hard wired for heated seats. I know this as I purchased a set of heated seats and installed them in my 00 that didn't have heated seats.

Can you post a picture of the connector if possible to be sure it is the right connector.

Hi abonano,

Please see the image below. As you can see, it's the yellow plug on the right. The red wire is not connected.

Thanks
Mike

Mike - Pictures are worth 1,000 words!

Just checked my connector under my seat (that connector is for the side airbag assembly) The red wire goes into that other slot next to the black one. Mine is connected.

Remove the seat (try and disconnect both grey and yellow seat harness connectors before lifting unbolted seat from the car) and make repairs to the red wire.

Should be straight forward.

Thanks

Hi abonano,

Thanks for the info. I'll give that a shot and report back.

If error 3 6 is a side airbag fault and that plug is a side airbag plug, I reckon I'll be on to a winner when I reconnect it

Thanks
Mike

Hi all,

Well, I removed the seat which was much easier than I thought and joined the red wire and now the airbag light is sorted.
I couldn't get the wire joined on the right side of the plug, so I used a chockbloc and joined it the other side. I've moved the seat all the way forward and all the way back and all is OK.

My thanks go to abonano for his pointers.

Thanks
Mike
