I was not worried about it unduly, but I've just been told its an MOT fail!
can anybody tell me how to solve this problem?

No car details!!

Looks like module is out of data so may need a new one. OE tool may confirm/fix. try an indy with it.

Default Airbag Warning Light

I have exactly the same condition on a 2006 S-Type I just bought, it flashes once then 8 more times then stays on.
Anyone got any ideas?
It does not seem to be an MOT failure as this car has been doing it for three years (allegedly).

I understand it now (recently) should be an MoT fail - check the online manual but that's how I understand it.

If that's 18, it would seem to be the passenger (caution as to whether that's true!) pre-tensioner squib circuit shorted to ground or battery.

Looks like a fault in the passenger warning light circuit.

Any flashing abs/srs lights are an automatic fail now.
Unless you have a friendly tester that is.
But would you want anyone to pass your car as good for those kind of faults?
I'm on good terms with my bike and car testers, known them both for 20 years or more on a personal basis, have BBQ's and weddings and all kinds of stuff with them both, but you think they let me get away with anything?
NO SIR!
And I wouldn't want them to either.

I have the same problem, 19. I've read that it's usually the clockspring under the steering wheel, it looks like it can also be a variety of things too. I read that the fault will only make the airbags go full blast, not at a partial blast in a lower speed crash. It's intermittent with my car, my steering wheel squeaks a little too, probably the clockspring? As long as the airbags don't go off while I'm driving normally, I'll be happy.
