Default Amplifier?

I have a 2004 S-type with stock Navi/stereo, I'm looking to add an amp, but I'm having a problem finding a wire to hook the aux on off the wire for the amp. Can anyone tell me how they hooked thier amps to the stock system? I got power but need a signal...thanks

Also what color wires for the door speakers?

You have to buy a low level to rca converter. Unless your amp can accept the low level inputs. In that case you would just wire your rear speaker wires to the appropriate wires on your amp. I am not sure about the wire colors but if you call any stereo shop and ask nicely they will usually tell you - I have done it before. What kind of amp and sub are you putting in?

It can run anything you plug it into. Its the best option to use the stock radio. I actually have 2 amps running off the converter right now.

There should be some wires hanging off the back or it. They need to be matched up with your rear speaker wires - make sure positive and negative are connected properly. The instruction booklet that came with it should have and example. Also, there will be 2 other wires that may need to be connected to a power source if you still do not get a signal.

Just to ask, the amps are turning on, the remote wire has juice and you have a good ground - correct?

But the speaker wires should be copper no? Have you identified the wires correctly? Where are you tapping them from? Not sure I know what you mean about the aux signal - are you trying to run another type of media via aux connection?

I think you're referring to the remote signal wire...correct?

I went out to the garage and looked at my factory amp ( 02 Sport w/ premium sound system ). The Jag amp definitely has a different setup from the 750W Rockford Fosgate I have in my Jeep. Perhaps having someone flipp the power on and off your head unit while using a multimeter or test light to see which wire is getting juice will help you figure which direction you should go.

oh the remote turn on. I started test wires until I found one that turns on and off with the ignition. They was I set my x up was to accept a new head unit down the road. So I placed my low level converter behind the dash, ran my rca's from there back and ran a remote wire connected to the ignition turn on wire for the radio.

I'm sorry dude the whole time you were saying signal I thought you weren't get anything out of you rca's.

Man I broke some plastic stuff on the Jag & I payed up the yin yang for that I would hate to brake anything trying to get signal from the ignition...that would surely cost an arm and a leg.

Come on guys I know that yall installed amps how did yall do it?

It almost sounds as though you need some type of signal converter to trigger your amp. Have you checked out any audio forums? Lots of good info out there. I'm sure if you search hard enough you should be able to locate wiring diagrams for both your amps and head unit..if you don't already have them.

I actually did post in the audio forums and thus far it’s only had 19 hits with no replies... As far as doinga search, it was fruitless, Im a DIY type of guy and have do numers install myself, but the Jag is a different beast.

Try looking behind the radio. Hook your tested to a groung and tap the wire and make not which have juice. Then turn the car to acc and see what has power. Then take one of the and run a wire to your trunk. If you want pm me with you telephone number and I can call you sunday afternoon.

I was hoping that there would be an easier way as I have the OEM stereo/navi set up. I'm sure there is a **** load of harness/wires in the back of thestereo/navi...

There has to be something in the trunk - but give those amps a couple days without running the car - you might find a dead battery.
