s-type dashboard and interior lights go out when headlights on

Hi Guys, After having the gearbox sensor replaced to make the car start I also had a secondhand ignition barrel all locks 2 keys and fobs coded to the car. I have also changed the 8 ignition coils and spark plugs. Driving today the headlights which I have always had set to auto mode failed to come on. I turned the switch to manual and all the dash lights went out. radio and lights also the milometer. Yet when switched back to auto mode no headlights but interior comes back on. Any advise and help would be appreciated. Thanks
