Hello again, Now that my STR is being repaired, I have a new question. Before I was hit I was at around 78.5k miles. My question is, is there any maintenance I should be looking to perform? They say the tranny fluid is lifetime, is that true? After this ordeal I want to make sure I do everything necessary to keep my car out of the shop. Thanks friends.

 

The transmission fluid is a MUST. I'm a Engineer and trust me - there is no such animal as sealed for life lubrication. The life is what the manufacturer expects the component to last for in a reasonable environment and to meet original consumer expectations and provide a comfort zone at purchase. I, like many other Jaguar owners have gone to the trouble and expense of changing the fluid in the ZF gearbox. Its not Rocket science you can do it yourself and when you drop the fluid out and look at the condition of it at 80k miles - would you be comfortable leaving it in service for possibly another 80k miles ?
Some Do .. and never have any trouble, but how many of the small problems with g/box's noted by owners of older cars may have been avoided with a fluid change ???
Along with this also look at the Diff and Power steering lubes/fluids, Just think of it as a Spa Day for your car
