Default Automatic On/Off headlights

Since purchasing the 03 STR used a few years ago with 85K miles on her clock, the auto on/off headlights have not worked. Finally took the initiative to let the indy Jag mechanic hook her up. He found that the alarm/light/a/c solar sensor on the middle of the dash had failed. After the new sensor arrived it only took him 15 minutes to install and...Wha-La! Now the auto headlights work, turning on when dark and off when adequate sunlight. Owning and driving this beautiful car is more fun now that she's "Working Better". Next is a trans. rebuild.

Good info. Now if only the trans were to be as quick and easy as the dash mounted light sensor.

LOL, 10-4 on that GT42R. Warranty company may pay for a rebuild or whatever? Today she's going to AAMCO. They offer a two year/50k mile warranty.

That is a very rare failure! Glad you posted it. How much was the part? Do you have a part number?

tbird, mechanic said part was $35. Don't have part number but 2002 and earlier are different than 03-on.
