Me too.
Maybe it was my apparently excessive amount of posts that got me banned?

Thanks Jim.
This is my first Jag, quite a change from my usual mode of transport for the past 10 years, so of course I had plenty of questions. As a result, I also had plenty of answers for others with similar issues. I enjoyed the banter, which likely added to the post score, but for some reason I always gathered that was what forums were for? They are a community and I enjoy the various other forums that I'm on too.
Seems there are a few out there that like to flex their keyboards, but would never behave a similar way face to face.Shame.

Of course you were 'just helping' me, I got it all wrong.

Happy to leave you out, but just remember that you invited yourself. End of.

No squabbling guys or I'll have to ban you both!

Ban is probably a mistake. Or maybe a hacker got in and posted some garbage (presumably now removed) that caused the ban. Hopefully all will be happily resolved with an un-ban.

Nowt wrong with diesels apart from their emissions (NOx, PM etc) which turn out to be much worse than claimed and far more harmful than was realised (oh, and the amount of hype about MPG). The manufacturers need to clean up their acts and cars!

Hmmm, no news from the UK yet, even though police666 messaged Buck earlier today. He's active, but clearly not wanting to answer.

Well... I favour cokc-up over conspiracy, generally speaking. Give it a bit longer.

Most bans come after a prominent warning (in private, normally). So this really looks like an error. I hope.

I sent him a PM at dinner time today asking if your ban was a mistake or if you had breached the rules in some way, no reply yet but he might be trying to contact whoever hit the ban button before replying or not seen the PM

I saw your message on his profile, thanks.

If I had breached a rule, which I didn't, then I'd have expected some warning before a ban.
I'll give it time, but ho hum.....not exactly life changing is it?

Many years ago when I was somewhat of a newbie here, I signed onto jaguarforums.com as usual and to my surprise I got the banned message unable to do anything, meaning contact anyone about the reasoning.

I tracked JimC64 down in an Audi forum he is on as well, I joined that forum to ask why I had gotten the boot from here. Jim responded immediately with answers to my questions that included you have NOT been banned on our end (remember this Jim?). I should say also, at the time I had no problems with the 2 other forums I was (am) on.

Anyhow taking Jims word for it, as I recall, I cleared my cache and internet history and blah blah, did a restart and poof I was no longer banned from here.

Just me thinking out loud......

Hi Joycesjag, yes I remember the incident you mention and that you "tracked me down" like a stalker....lol
It was an error and one we were happy to fix & glad we did, you've been a great addittion here.

Generally, with most forums there are certain procedures, dependent on varying circumstances of course, but as a rule.....

Spammers / Company liks promoting products etc get an instant ban here.

Any thoublesome members are usually warned via pm, maybe an infraction given or a 7 day ban of repeat offences.

In offbeat / unusual circumstances some members have been given plenty of leeway before actually walking themselves out the door, but they're few and far between.

I haven't heard of many similar instances from the UK site and Buck is a decent guy and a member here also. With Police taking up your case hopefully it'll be resolved soon.

Thanks

Manycars, I just need to ask one question, based on the reasoning given by your ex-forum moderators. No one seems to find fault with your posts, but those are the posts that remain to be read by others. My question...

"Were any of your posts ever deleted by moderators, and if so, do you have a transcript of those posts."

I can check back through my email history, however that's just replies to posts.

Over the last 6 months or so, some of my posts may have been deleted, as have posts from many others members, but if I had commited a breach so bad it warranted an instant ban, I'd remember it.

There was an instance recently, a thread whereby another member was discussing back up satnav discs had a few posts deleted. I had posted in that thread too, just clarifying that I understood the discussion was about back up discs, not illegal copies. Buck may have been involved in moderating that thread, saying it was not to be discussed on the open forum, which I agreed with. Those posts seem to have gone. My posts in that thread were all above board, so not sure why they were deleted?

It is interesting to note that a while ago I was actually offered a confirmed copied satnav disc via a PM from a let's say, surprising source, which I declined. I can only assume that the individual concerned felt it was OK to offer it to me via PM and email, rather than on the open forum?

I have had several posts disappear, in fact I have seen whole threads disappear with no explanation, 2 days ago, the was a thread about people wishing the was an x type only forum, i said the was and put a link on that just said welcome, but took them to a Mondao forum, i got many lols and and a few "likes" but the whole thread was missing after an hour or so.

I also recall when I first joined a few years ago?? That my account kept disappearing and iI had to rejoin several times.

Still not had a reply.

Lightheartedly, I did once start a thread saying that the JaguarForum.co.uk appeared to be an X Type forum as 99% of the posts were X Type ones. Not sure if that's the one you mean, but it wasn't wishing there was an X Type only forum.
