Default Belt slipping

Hey everyone, new to the community but thankful you are here!!! Have an issue.
The other day, I heard a whistling in the engine when I accelerated. I thought it might be time to change the belt. That was easy, and if anyone has any questions on belt changing, I would be glad to help.

Put the belt on, started her up and no issues for about a minute, though she shook a little and then stalled. Got back under the car and the belt slipped about half an inch on the crankshaft pulley.

I went with easy first, and replaced the tensioner. Started her back up and same exact thing. Would you guys assume crankshaft pulley needs to be replaced? Thanks

Yeah, probably a 1/4 of an inch off and it makes the car stall. The belt remains perfectly postioned at all other points.

What I thought was going to be an easy job, has now turned into a 3 day nightmare.

Are the pulleys all aligned properly? That is the only thing that I can think of that would make it jump that way

That's what I thought too, and the reason I replaced the tensioner. The only two things the crankshaft runs to on the belt are the tensioner and alternator I believe. Yet it only comes off at the crankshaft, no where else. With the weird whistling and now the vibration, makes me think it may be worse.

Have you checked the idler and all accessories for freely turning pulleys?

Hey guys, went out there and did more research. Found it, can now see where the balancer is broken. I am really busy, but I may change it myself. If anyone would like pics, I can do it. It is 2001 S-Type with 110000 miles on it. 3.0 motor. Been a great car, just time I guess.
