Default Blinking ac display.

Hey all. I'm posting from my phone so no sig. 2004 3.0.

Today on the way home from work the ac display started blinking. Same rate the whole time. Ac on auto. I turned off n on. Set to different settings. Shut off and restarted car. No change. Also the ac system still seams to work just fine. Although I admit I didn't run heat... It's hot! Lol but if u think that will help in a diagnosis I'll give it a try.

I know these cars are very sensitive to battery issues and weird and random stuff can result. So the batt is a oem batt. Not sure if it's the original or not. I'm getting a yellow top in two weeks so I'd rather not buy one right now.

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue and what they did to correct it.

Thx in advance all.

Hummm. I guess I can't edit a post from my phone either...

Anyways I wanted to add that the car has 60k miles and no other issues.

So I got in the car this morning, and everything is working as it should. I've got no clue caused the blinking, or how it was fixed. So I'm going to chop it up as just one of the weird symptoms of a failing battery...

I have a customer with a 2005 3.0 S-Type with the same fault. The climate control display 'blinks' when the outside air temps get high. I checked for DTCs with WDS (none) and the A/C operates normally (after I swapped the internal valve). I told her if she wanted to replace the module it would probably be pricey so she said she could live with blinking as long as the system worked.

Ah, thx for the reply. At least I know I'm not crazy. It was hot and humid yesterday, but its bean hotter... I wonder if it's related or just coincidence.

I did research a little bit on your problem yesterday, and found a couple of references with pretty much the same result, it didn't effect the operation and went away on it's own.

My 2003 S-Type just started blinking the same way described above. I tried turning the car off and on and the the climate control on and off to no avail. I hope it stops blinking on its own, but the a/c and heat still work.

It may be a coincidence, but it started blinking when I pressed cancel on the cruise control. I will post again if it fixes itself or if I end up having to get it fixed.

Mine does the same thing on occasion. I pretend its not there. I only use AC when the temps go above 85 or when there's a passenger in the car.

The display stopped its blinking when I turned the car on the following morning and has not returned since. In my particular case, it was a cool evening when the blinking started and the a/c was not on, just the fan.
-Hope this is of some use.

Way back when.... Months after replacing the DCCV... My 2005 started doing that (blinking display but still worked). Actually called the dealer on the way to work and had someone come out and look at it. Since it was a Select Edition (certified) car they took it in and replaced the module. This was the one time I didn't talk to a tech first hand. The service writer said the tech just replaced the module since that is a sign that it is failing. After replacement, the symptom never came back.

Mine has done this twice in the two years I've owned her. Everything works ok, so I'll wait till it dies completely before changing the module.

Default "Winking"

My 04 STR A/C screen started blinking last night for the first time. I pressed all buttons and have full functionality. Temps were mid 70s with low humidity. Just under 60K miles and trouble free, till now. I can live with this distraction when it occurs.
It seems to have healed over night, go figure!!!

Best Regards All

Just wait. Troubles start with this car at about 75,000 miles. I have over 92,000 miles and have put in more than $3,000 in it in the last 8 month and more than 4,000 over the last 13.

Well guys I have 2003 S Type, A/C lights start blinking after reaching 90 degrees. Sometimes its as soon as I turn it on in 80 degrees. So go figure! Also noted that after 90 degrees the remote door doesn't work either!

How old is the car's battery and have you checked very carefully for water in the trunk? (remove spare tire)

Like Jag V8 stated.... Read up on battery issues.... The temperatures you are talking about mean little to electronic modules... They are not affected by temperature like that... BUT... a battery is.....

Thanks JOsworth! Replaced battery three months ago. I have lots of other 'weird' issues happening besides the 'blinking A/C lights', like the remote stops working when it's above 90 degrees. Also, while driving across Texas the temperature on the dash displayed 110 and suddenly "shutdown" the car, I managed to crawl to an underpass to cool it off; happened once & never again. If I hold down the CANCEL button the car shutsdown completely. Little small things, annoying but livable! Electronics are temperature sensitive with time. Last week the instrument panel lights went out; ordered them from dealer $35; guess I'll need an owners service manual on how to install them. BTW I've got 140K miles, great gas mileage, still looks like showroom condition inside & out! Love the car!!! I just need an extra job to pay for repairs!
